Description

The listing, Extra Large / Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds 35+ has ended.

You'll get 35+ seeds from a 45-70 lb. pumpkin. Genetically you'll have what it takes to grow jumbo size pumpkins. With a few added techniques you can ensure that these will be jumbo size or larger, with all your pumpkins at least 40 lbs. & bigger.
Pumpkins are a popular vegetable for a reason: they're delicious, easy to grow. & they're fun to carve into jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. It doesn't take all that much to cultivate pumpkins in the garden. If you want to grow jumbo size pumpkins, or larger, the kind you might see winning the blue ribbon at the fair, it takes a little extra effort. Feeding sugar water or milk to your pumpkins, for instance, can make them grow much bigger than just sun & water alone will.
1. Choose a spot in your yard or garden with at least 6 hrs. of full sun per day.
2. Buy a bag of compost, & mix 2 or 3 trowel-fulls into each square ft. of growing space.
3. Place a group of 2-4 seeds, 2 or 3 inches apart from each other & cover w/ soil. If you want to grow more pumpkins, place another patch of 2-3 seeds at least 4-5 feet away.
4. Water your pumpkin plants between 4-7 X a week, so that they're always damp, & get about 2" of water per week.
5. Wait until a pumpkin develops, & has grown to be about 6" across.
6. Fill a bowl with 50 % water & 50 % white granulated sugar. If you want to use milk instead of water, this will work well too. Dunk your cotton string into the mixture.
7. Make a small slit with a knife in the base of the pumpkin's stem, about 4" above the pumpkin. Insert one end of your cotton string into the slit, & keep the other end in your sugar water mixture. The pumpkin will slowly suck up the sugar mixture, helping it grow bigger.
8. Keep an eye on the sugar mixture, & replenish the bowl when it is empty. Keep this up for at least 2 weeks, or until you are ready to harvest your large pumpkin.
The seeds are yummy to toast in the oven & make a great, nutritious snack as well.
