Precancel + Airmail & Postage Due (29 Stamps)
2nd photo you can see the precancel stamp and beside a duplicate without the precancel, so that is a nice little set.
(Precancels are postage stamps that have been canceled before being used on letters or packages. Typically they are stamps cancelled with two lines, and the city and state where they were mailed.)
25 cent airmail "The Universal Postal Union", 1949 with 6 cent 1949. Both are nice addition or anyone specializing in airmail stamps.
Nice blue 15 cent with Statue of Liberty
I don't see a whole lot of the 7 cent "Alaska statehood" airmail stamp and same with the small red 5 cent eagle.
Precancel Information
A precancel is a stamp that is cancelled before being affixed to mail. This practice began on a small scale almost as soon as stamps were born, as a time-saving procedure for postmasters. For large mailings, it was a lot quicker and easier to cancel a sheet of stamps in advance than to cancel 100 envelopes separately. In the early days, precancels consisted of pen-lines, printed lines or bars, initials, or certain designs.
