While the British were still ruling our country, Indian
currency was following the British 3-tier system
of Paisa > Anna > Rupee.
In 1957*, Democratic India finally decided to
"go decimal" along the lines of "modern world".
However, this last edition of the omnipresent "1 Paisa"
was firmly 1/100 part of the modern Indian Rupee
Yes ! And, the mighty dollar was once = Re.1

Now, with the metals becoming so expensive, you
have to pay a dollar each for these ( 1p. & 2 p. ) ALUMINUM coins
25 p. is nickel-chrome.
