A large range of knots and some stylized type or knots that are used as decoration by the ancient Celts are known as Celtic knots. They are used mainly in decorating church monuments and manuscripts, such as the the Book of Kells, 8th century St. Teilo Gospels and the Lindisfarne Gospels. From then on, it spread to different parts of the world.
In or around 450 AD, before the Celts could be influenced by Christianity, Celtic culture took the form of knots, spirals, plait, braid, step and key patterns to depict richly symbolic seven creations. These creations were: man, mammal, plant, insect, bird, fish and reptile. Just as each of these symbolizes something important, so do the kinds of Celtic knots.

THIS is a Stylized Solomon's Knot, is a very ancient Celtic Knot symbol that is believed to represent the union of man and the Divine. In fact, it is one of the oldest symbols and is seen even in the stone-age carvings. It is also one of the few symbols that can be found in nearly all the major civilizations. Its frequent appearance in ancient synagogues led to it being linked with King Solomon. Solomon's Knot lends itself to several symbolic interpretations. The absence of any beginning or end in the knot makes it a symbol of eternity and immortality, while the design of two entwined figures makes the knot a symbol of love.

Is this Solid Sterling because the girl I want to try and get it For is highly allergic to all alloy metals. Within secs shortness of breath and gets very ill. Just because marked doesn’t mean it Solid. It should but unfortunately slot of marked jewelry these days are not as marked.

I am sorry that you have had problems with Sterling Silver. Some people are just so allergic to certain metals that they can only wear Gold, Stainless Steel, etc. It sounds like you were going into Anaphalactic Shock (sorry about my spelling) Now to be clear there is no such thing as "Solid" when it comes to Sterling Silver. Silver it'self is too soft a metal to hold it's shape by it'self. So all Sterling Sliver is only 92.5% Silver and the rest in other metal. For us and most American Jewelers we use Copper to fill in the rest of the mix. My husband and I make our own pieces and so I know how and what we mix for .925 Sterling Silver jewelry. With the symptoms you describe it may not have been the Silver but it may have been whatever the person mixed the Silver with. I am not sure with breathing symptoms I would take any chances. I do however give you my word that we mixed the Sterling Silver ourselves and what we make is REAL. Feel free to look through my feedback to see that of the thousands of Sterling Silver pieces I have given away here on Listia that I have nary a complaint. Thank you for taking a moment to stop by and take a look. I Hope you have a Super Sunday evening and a Wonderful Week ahead! ~Namaste

All MY pieces are made with 92.5% Silver and the rest is Copper. I hope that helps you out. I don't want anyone getting sick from a piece of hubby and I's jewelry. =) Always feel free to ask me questions and I will do my best to answer as quickly as I can. Have a Beautiful night, a peaceful slumber, and a Bright tomorrow! =)
