This victory nickel is 109 years old! It’s nicer than I could get a picture of, in good condition.

the V is for the roman numeral five. the V on the Canadian nickel is for victory in WW2 and the five denomination.

they must just assume that`s what it stood for.........there was no war during that period when they were minted.

I know that, as well as V being the Roman numeral five, but every coin site calls these “Victory" nickels. Very curious.

yes, there are a lot of sites that refer to these as such, but in my opinion, i believe that they are misconstrued. technically they are called liberty V nickels or just liberty nickels. thankx for your prompt responses.
