JDM has been a target of heavy criticism since its boom in popularity in the early 2000s. Nearly every aspect of the culture has been labeled and stereotyped, from a JDM car's trait to the driver. Many people attack the vunerable qualities of the culture.
From a criticism perspective: Many criticize JDM for having the appearance of being fast, but actually being as fast as the stock version. Basically, you could compare this to a beautiful woman with no substance (only difference is that ricers are not very beautiful). Many attack its notorious reliability issues, with many JDM enthusiasts installing and constantly working on overpriced parts purchased from eBay.The stereotypical JDM car:A clean paint or matte finish, usually in a white, black, yellow, red, purple, or blue.Rims must be black or a completely contrasted color.
Must be a trashy style rim.A massive tailpipe.A loud muffler (defeats the purpose of a muffler).
