The listing, Unique Vintage Tin Punch Home Decor has ended.
Tin punch furniture is now having a wonderful comeback.
I've had this colonialstyle for a long time and never used it so it's time someone else makes better use of it.
Picked it up in Texas or North Carolina!
Was thinking of using it as a window plant display but don't want to ruin it :)
It's a neat piece but I've never been sure of how to use it! Not sure how old it is but have had it for about 10 years I think and picked it up probably in a barn sale in areas replete with old items.
Thanks to my fellow listians for clarifying what this really is! As I now see it, it's like our modern fuse box: the source of our electricity and power. In the colonial days, they used it as a central place to store their candles and matches and used it as needed.
Nowadays, if you visit the many "living museums" in Texas or North Carolina - both states replete with American History -- you might get an opportunity to see one of these made in the traditional way with crafts people who aim to retain history.
Great piece of Americana!! Get it while you can! Might retire it soon :)
