Macromedia Extreme 3D 2.0 PC CD For Windows (32-Bit systems)
OR
Macromedia Extreme 3D MAC CD (Power Macintosh: OS 9 or Below)
A relative newcomer to the 3-D arena, Extreme 3D is an elegant implementation that seamlessly integrates with other Macromedia products such as Freehand, Authorware, and Director. Version 2.0 is a major improvement over the first version, adding new tools, more accurate rendering capability, and better control over lighting and material properties.
The program's strength lies in its construction and editing functions, which do a fine job of simplifying complex modeling tasks. For example, by using construction objects such as points or lines, together with Extreme 3D's Paste Replace function, it is incredibly easy to position objects precisely. The program also has many CAD-like features: You can enter numeric values (describing height, radius, etc.) to create an object automatically, or you can use tools such as trim, fillet, offset, projection, and 3-D mirror to assemble surface objects into models. Furthermore, Extreme 3D's visible working-plane grid provides a simple way to draw 2-D objects and transform them into 3-D solids via extruding, lathing, sweeping, beveling, and skinning (which is the process of defining a series of cross-sections over which the program will "stretch" a surface). By default, the working plane automatically adjusts itself to remain parallel to the workspace regardless of how you adjust the viewpoint into the 3-D scene.
