Yes, banknotes of this kind have a place in the circulation of money in Russia to this day now. At least about cancellation of their use for payment I did not hear anything.
For example, now I can spend this banknote by buying in a Russian store 2 loaves of bread. But 50 ruble notes became less common in circulation. A rarity is now and a meeting of 10 ruble banknotes. But 10 ruble notes are successfully replaced with 10 ruble coins.

For these 50 rubles, I can buy 1 liter of good cow's milk (without the addition of palm oil) in Russia (in St. Petersburg)

To be precise, then 51,90 rubles Milk "Vologodskoye" (Vologda) ( liquid, in order to drink directly). 2,5% fat. This is still cheap, because it was bought in the budget store "Narodny"

Very attractive pricing policy!I also have a
discount card of store "Lenta", but to reach
there, I need to use public transport.
Therefore, I rarely go there.

An interesting situation has developed in Russia now. 10 rubles of paper became a rarity in circulation. 50 rubles is found, but also not always. And if we talk about beautiful serial numbers on banknotes, then this is also a rarity. Absolutely disappeared, one might say, from circulation coins of denominations of 1 and 5 cents (kopeyka). At least now, even sellers and cashiers in stores can not exactly give you change, when making a purchase, for this reason. At least this situation has developed in the North-West of Russia. Maybe in other regions the situation is different.More often than not, we can find banknotes worth 100 and 500 rubles in circulation. 1000 rubles a banknote - is also not uncommon. All are happy with the presence of a frequent banknote of 5000 rubles. More recently, new Russian banknotes worth 200 and 2000 rubles have come into circulation. But they immediately settle in the pockets of speculators and instantly became a rarity in open circulation. It's been half a year since their introduction into circulation, but I have never seen anyone spend it in our store.
