Doubleday Doran, 1942. FIRST EDITION, 'Special Edition.' Good Condition, tan cloth with elaborate scroll -work framing color pastedown of "The Road-Winter", title block with slightly worn gilt titles on spine. Amazing engravings, 192 plates including some in color. Currier and Ives were businessmen and craftsmen, reflecting in their collection of prints, American life and attitudes from 1835-1907. This Special Edition is set in 12 pt. caslon monotype with hand-drawn decorative initials. The design and typography is by A.P. Tedesco. The prints in this book are taken from the collection of Harry T. Peters, the foremost collector of Currier & Ives in the world. They are reproduced here with exceptional care and fidelity, and many of these prints have been only available to collectors. Increasingly scarce edition.
