These were traditionally (before the mid~eighties) given to female seniors on graduation day as samples from the local furniture store for their "Hope Chests". Back then girls really did have cedar "hope chests" at the foot of their beds. It was gradually filled & used to store household items they would need when they wed. I graduated in 83. I might have been the last class that received them in my area. Just a little FYI from an old person, haha!!

I graduated in 86 and was given both the large cedar chest and small keepsake chest on my graduation also. Both are still nice. Great auction!

I had a hope chest as well and sort of created one for my daughter when she was growing up. She is now 24 and has those items to use. It is an old tradition, but a wise one I think.

I kept mine also, but it belonged to some who graduated way earlier than the 80’s. The Company that gave hers, has been out of business since late 40 early 50’s. Nice Collectible item!
