This is a Level III plus bullet proof vest. It will stop the ultra-fast AR-15 5.56 mm rifle ammunition both the hunting and military "full metal jacket." There are 30 odd 6 armor piercing rounds that won't get stopped by this jacket. For that you need a level IV one.

It weighs 9.5 pounds and is not worn by law enforcement in every day situations, as it is not concealable and not comfortable. The lighter lower level IIA and IIIA vests are used because they protect against pistols which are responsible for 90% of shooting deaths. Level III vests are generally put on only in special situations or used by SWAT teams.
