Is the chain original to it? Is the pendant set into metal frame? What does the back look like?

I found this in a recycle shop (same place where I found the sterling sterling urn charm). There is a small round opening on the back (it may be a flat washer). Upon closer inspection it may possibly be handmade. The chain is beautiful - silver and shiny. The image appears to have a gold trim around the camel and the front is smooth like there is a clear coating over it. It caught my attention because I have not seen anything like it. It is definitely a conversation piece! Thanks for asking!
