Hard to find on Listia!
Up for auction is an Imperforate MLH (Mint Lightly Hinged) 1909 2c stamp depicting William H. Seward. Seward was Secretary of State under President Lincoln, and when Lincoln was assassinated became Secretary of State under Lincoln's successor, President Andrew Johnson. Seward is famous for purchasing the State of Alaska from Russia on March 30, 1867 for a total of $7.2 million. This purchase was initially panned by critics as "Seward's Folly" but time has proven it was a valuable purchase indeed!
Stamp will be mailed in a black Prinz stamp mount and is from a smoke free and pet free home. Thank you for bidding!
