Questions & Comments
There is no such thing as solid silver. Pure Silver, like pure gold, is very malleable and brittle, so in order to make things out of silver jewelers add in stronger metals, usually copper. Stamping .925 indicates that the item has 92.5 % silver and the rest is the metal that was added in to strengthen the silver. You can get 99.9% silver, that is stamped .999 but that is hard to find. When someone says something is solid silver, usually they mean it is silver through and through, not silver plated or hollow. My aunt is a jeweler and certified GIA with 20+ years of experience, plus anyone can Google .925 silver and find out the info.
Hi! I've worked with silvr & whoever got in touch with you is not a jeweler! That's sterling silver, the top of the line standard for jewelry. It means it is 92.5% silver and usually 7.5% copper. The copper is needed to make the silver stronger, because without it it would be soft at room temperature. You can rest assured that you don't have cheap jewelry if you see that stamped on it! Fanned Watching & Plan to bid cuz Opal is my birthstone!
Zamora... to check shipping prices... you can go to www dot usps dot com and click on "Spipping Prices and click on Pricing calculator... and then it lets you pick the type and size envelope or box, where you are shipping from and to and you can enter a weight (unless it is a flat rate) then it will tell you how much it will be. I hope this helps...
I noticed that and it shocked me. You would think that since the name refers to a specific kind of opal that it wouldn't be like that. *shrug* :) I'm crossing my fingers on this because it IS beautiful!
This is so pretty F&W. Also this isn't a fire opal, this is just a pink opal. Fire opals range anywhere from light yellow to a well, firey red-orange in color. They are cloudy or clear like a regular gemstone but don't have the play on light with the inclusions that a regular opal has. :) I LOVE fire opals so this caught my attention. Hopefully some of my other credits come in before this ends.
You are welcome and I fanned you. Very pretty ring... all my points are tied up right now but I love to browse. I will shop with you in the future though :)
About shipping to Canada, I've shipped several small packages there...this would cost you $4.00 or less to ship First Class to Canada in a small bubble envelope. Take a picture of the Customs label that the postal worker attaches to your package and that serves as proof of mailing in any dispute. Shipping to Canada really isn't a big deal when it's a small item and it does open your auction up to more buyers. btw beautiful ring but not my size :(
Love opals watching and to answer your question one time I listed 8 auctions and put free shipping worldwide and everyone that won was from somewhere outside the usa let me tell you that was so costly that I dony do that any more and the second highest was canada to ship to.
its to bad its so costly, its not fair for the people that wanna have fun on here that live in Canada :( I'm just glad i found this info. out before i said i would ship to Canada,My Hobby would turn into a Nightmare...Thank u for watching :)
As far as a bubble package to canada.. I would seriously check with your post office. And I would definitely put tracking on it, maybe some insurance also. Just to cover your fanny, just in case. Good luck!!
Sometimes shipping to Canada costs $12.95 and up. Go to usps.com and you can get an idea from the pricing there. I have an auction going of ink cartridges that all fit in a small flat rate box, the shipping would have come to about $13.00. If you decide to ship to Canada, make sure you send "AS A GIFT" or you pay their "duty" prices (whatever that is..lol)
Wow thats alot...Thanks for that information...So hmm i wonder what a Ring would cost to ship in a bubble envelope, and i wonder being that its going far i would have to track it...So as to the question how much? Would it be worth it? Thanks again MeeAnnner
I need someone to help me out on this please???? lol i only know from what Listians are saying is that shipping to Canada is very costly..I could find out for u when i go to the post office today..Sorry i wish i could give u the cost..
