These cabbage plants were organically grown by me in my garden in both 2018 and 2019 and then some of.them were left behind and some were intentionally planted at the wrong time to produce seeds. It takes 2 full growing seasons (18 months to 2 years) to get from seed to seeds. But if your just growing for cabbage to eat then it's just one growing season at the correct timing. You want to do your planning around having them grow heads early in the spring by overwintering plant starts or spring plant them so that they mature in cold weather of late fall to early winter. That is when they grow and taste best. Cabbages in general are not a summer heat loving vegetable and if grown in the heat they don't grow as well or taste as good and can even refuse to grow into heads.
