What you see marked “pasilla” at local grocery may not be the real thing. Like ancho peppers, they can be rehydrated for used in sauces, stews, soups, salsas, hot sauces, pastes, & marinades. Easily powdered to use as spice for rubs. As dried chili, it keeps a long time – a yr+ if kept in an airtight container.
