Lady Harriet Milborne enjoyed her quiet life in the country. But according to Society, it was time to be presented. She dreaded the trip to London and greatly resented her come-out.

Fortunately, she acquired a new friend who sympathized with her point of view. Mr. Roberts, a country gentleman learning the art of farming on her father's estate, was a very comfortable and agreeable companion whom Harriet found easy to trust.
