The listing, "The Wisdom of Gibran" Hardback book has ended.
This is a first edition from 1966 by the author of The Prophet. It has its original paper jacket that shows a price of $3.75 back then. Edited and translated by Joseph Sheban.
The writings of Kahlil Gibran left an imprint upon the thinking of Joseph Sheban while he was still in high school. Gibran was banned for many years; his books being burned in the public square of Lebanon during the Ottoman Empire. His defiance was an invitation to all of us who were young in Lebanon.
As a result of research and studies which took him to the great libraries and museums of London, Paris, Rome, Egypt and the Middle East, Mr. Sheban wrote his widely quoted book, ONE WHITE RACE FOLLOWING THE GODS. His research brought him nearer and nearer Gibran, and he eventually wrote a biography of Gibran (Mirrors of the Soul), during which he reread, in both English and Arabic, all of Gibran's works..
