Strong V.B.D letters.
First year Wheat cent minted. At first, designer Victor David Brenner's initials were on the cent but were taken off that same year.
US Antique coin.

Good morning! First year wheat cent/penny was 1909. The designer Victor David Brenner put his initials on back and bold. Higher ups thought it was too much. Same year they changed it putting initials small on front at bottom of the neck on Lincoln. Many, at the time, got the initials rubbed off so theres some out there very light where they tried to rub off but didnt get it all. Valued collectable :) thank you for your question ♡ Cece

Only some of 1909 have initials on the back. Half way through the year they changed and put on the front.
