Uncirculated ☆1943☆Jefferson War Nickel.
35% Silver.
Minted in Philadelphia.
~War nickels are U.S. five-cent coins minted between 1942 and 1945 that contain a unique alloy of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese, instead of the standard 75% copper and 25% nickel composition. This special composition was implemented during World War II to conserve strategic nickel, a critical metal needed for military equipment. These coins are easily identified by their larger mint marks (P, D, or S) placed above the image of Monticello on the reverse side, a change made to help identify and remove them from circulation after the war. Rare in this condition especially!
Comes in protective coin holder flips.
