The listing, Rare Old Antique 19th Century- Late 1800's Native American Pink Beaded Souvenir Purse has ended.
In the late 19th century, Eastern woodlands Native Americans often made these tiny beaded coin purses as souvenirs for tourists. This one is covered in a light pink cloth, and a heavier wool cloth is used as a liner on the inside.
This purse measures about 3”W x 2"H x 1 1/2" D with a strap drop of about 3".
This particular purse has a beaded strap and looped Tassles that hang from the bottom of the purse. . It is decorated an intricate beadwork of flower patterns (a yellow and a green flower) as well as one large complex multi-color flower on the back. Small clear beads are used in the accents and "piping" of the purse. The purse is edged on all sides and even the flap with small clear beads.
THERE IS NOT ONE BEAD MISSING FROM THIS PURSE. IT IS IN AMAZING CONDITION.
A Tiny Metal (BRonze, Tin, Copper?) Clasp/Hook is attached under the flap of the purse to the front exterior for securing it shut.
Light brown thread stitches hold the pink exterior cloth together with red interior lining. The red Lining shows some age, but this piece is in excellent Antique condition. It is well over 100 years old and in UNBELIEVABLE shape.
It is VERY HARD and EXTREMELY RARE to find a similar item of the same age in this Condition. I would go as far as to say it is close to museum quality.
