Great for beginners! This auction is for a Vito Reso-tone Clarinet. I bought this at an estate sale many years ago and have only played it a few times. I have been a classical musician for 18 years (mainly Oboe) and feel qualified to list this with confidence.
This is an older clarinet so it does have some wear and tear. It is made from resin (plastic) which makes it a great beginner clarinet. The corks at the joints need to be replaced, this is something that any local music store could do in 5 minutes for a few dollars, no big deal. Most instrument keys are plated with either silver or nickel, some areas have worn down plating showing the metal underneath, this does not effect the instruments playability in any way, just happens with age. As far as I know this clarinet seals and will be fully functional right out of the case. However, some pads may need to be replaced soon, this is also something that can be done at a local music store in a few minutes for a few dollars. The mouthpiece has the usual wear, i have included a picture of this. Probably a good idea to give that a good scrub before you play it. :P
It also comes with a case. The case that it comes with is not the original case as is says "LeBlanc" on the outside. It is a thick hard plastic case with metal bumpers. The inside is a bit grimy, just an age thing, happens over time. This auction also includes 2 brand new Vandoren 3 and 1/2 strength reeds.
Always free shipping in the CONTINENTAL USA. I cannot ship international it is too heavy and would cost too much.
Please feel free to ask any questions.

My 11 yr old is thinking of playing clarinet in Jenks band class next yr. (1st yr of band) would you recommend this for her?

I think it would be a perfect starter! It is already worn in so you don't have to fret about any ding or scratches it may get from your new musician. I would invest a few dollars having the guys at Saied (or whichever music store you prefer) give it the "once over".

Thanks so much for your quick response. Saied does a great job. Thanks again

I would love to have this. I'm a performance major in college(flute to be exact) and am going into woodwind specialization and I need a clarinet. Great auction very detailed in the description. I don't think I have any questions that you didn't cover!

Yea...I don't know what else I would do besides music. My grandfather was a minister of music for over 40 years and both sides of my family are all singers so...great auction. I'll be sure to bid!

I'm watching too! my husband is a classically trained musician (french horn and trumpet) and is also a band teacher. We are always on the lookout for inexpensive instruments that we get and fix up for some of the students who want to play in band but can't afford to buy an instrument, I've been learning how to repair them, but haven't done a clarinet yet, we'd love to have this! Thanks so much for your generous listing!!

this would be abosolutly PERFECT ffor you! i hope you win!

seriously, i am an Oboe teacher, if there was a way that i could get an inexpensive oboe to a student who wanted one, i would do it. i teach for well below the market value of oboe lessons and my reeds are always free for my students (i make commercial oboe reeds as a side job for a major international company and have for years so it is VERY cheap for me to do so) SO i appreciate what you are doing, very much! In fact, i put this clarinet up for that very reason, ( i bought this clarinet at an estate sale for 30$) i want to help aspiring musicians. I want to make music (especially classical) available to those who cannot afford it.. This IS the purpose of my listing. I have no use for this instrument and the value of music (to me) is much more than simply monetary.

I completely understand!! Living with a musician/teacher makes me appreciate them so much more! He may not know it, but I do support what he does, teachers are one of the most underappreciated people in the world, especial music teachers. the hard truth is that it does take a certain amount of talent to play, and parents never understand why their kids aren't that good at it, when they never practice and have little talent to begin with...I guess we can't all be born with talent : )

practice does make perfect! a lot of parents don't understand how much practicing is needed with learning an instrument.

Just watched a Clarinetist play duet w/ piano. Gorgeous sound. Probably won't get this but definitely an investment well worth it to whoever does win.

What a great auction, and really terrific that you described it's condition so well! I think a lot of people buy used instruments for their kids, not realizing that most will need some repairs before their child can use them for music lessons or school band. Well worth it to buy a nicer older instrument that needs a little repair than throw you money away on these super-cheap new ones that sometimes CANNOT be repaird ... found out this the hard way, my kids play flute!

thank you! yes, this clarinet has already been well loved but it should last for many many years to come with proper care. I made sure I described it to the best of my ability! just needs a few little things. I play flute as well but oboe is my main love.

flute was my instrument of torture (oops I mean choice) in high school too. I could never get the hang of the reed instruments....hubby will probably kill me if I get this, he he he. it's for the kids!!!! (not ours, lol, I think he has a particular distaste for beginner clarinet players, something about sounding like a dying cat)

oh, and he's joined listia too, and is listing some boxes of clarinet reeds that he has.....if there are any clarinet players looking for those, lol!
