Description

The listing, Dell INSPIRON mini has ended.

Dell Inspiron Mini. Windows XP. Has Norton 360 Premium Edition for 111/2 more months, a paid feature. My young children operate tablets better so I no longer need this computer. It works fine. Get's on the internet. I imagine you can do some upgrades; if that's your thing. I don't know a lot about clearing the computer to a like-new state, but I'll try to make sure no personal information is stored. Otherwise, It's up to you to set it up the way you'd like.

Although you would be shedding personal data, it's shredding. This can be done easily with a free Windows utility called Eraser or you could always purchase a program like, WipeDrive but it costs about $30. (not recommended, there's no need to pay when there's free ones that work as well if not better.) There are strict laws requiring you to prevent unauthorized access to the personal information on discarded or resale computers, even your own personal info. There is another program called AceErase File Shredder that has a free version. The paid version is more for company documents. Also, a free program at killdisk.com, it's one of the best "wipers". It overwrites your data with random characters. Any of these should do the trick for ya. The best and most secure way is to take the hard drive out and destroy it (smash it, blow it up, etc.) but not necessary. The new owner will surely appreciate it already having one!!!
Hope this helps.....if not, write me again. I'm happy to help you.

All I want it to be able to do is get on the internet to watch tv, Netflix, etc. I do a lot of research on my regular computer. I have wifi broadband in my home. Can it pull off that simple request? I'm not the least bit interested in specs, etc!!!

From your pictures it is an Intel Atom running at 1.33Ghz with 1Gb of RAM. Also you should never put a picture up with the Product Key for Windows or any other software as someone may use it and disable the version on the computer. From what I can see, this model should have 160Gb hard drive and there is from your pictures one HDMI, 3 USB 2.0, 1 RJ-45 Ethernet ports, a Memory card reader. Has wireless but it could be n-class or g-class and most versions came with Bluetooth. You can also use Ccleaner to wipe the free space on the hard drive after a system restore to factory defaults. Hope this helps. F&W.

I would track the shipping on a product like this, the adapter cord comes with, and I'm still trying to find the specs page? I'd try any suggestions, just so l learn to know how.

Returning to factory settings WILL NOT clear personal data (sorry ProudStepMomof2, your information is incorrect) that resets the BIOS. Personal data needs to be "wiped" and/or "shredded". WitchyWoman1965 is correct, you will need to remove Norton (see if you can get a partial refund) in order for it to be reprogrammed and it is only supported by Norton for one computer, one user, it's non-transferable. Norton causes more trouble than it's worth and considering Windows has it's own anti-virus system (malware, spyware, etc.) that works well. This would be a great computer for a child or a person new to computers. It's easy to use and hard to mess it up too much!!!!!

So that means that I will remove the Norton because marleysnanna is probably right, unless the winner insist I leave it on. I learning from what you guys say. I'll be a genius at this soon. Now how to "shed personal data" is the topic!
