Would you say Motorola is better?

I don't believe so. Cisco products are very durable. The only reason I purchased a Motorola before was because Wal-Mart had them on hand. This Cisco modem has been awesome. I rarely had to reset it for any reason. Shoulda really kept it in case this DSL doesn't work out. I reboot that modem twice a week :/

I'm looking at a Motorola rite now with a little less time. If it's worth the wait I'll wait. I just need to get rid of this arris modem I'm paying $10.00 a month for.: /

Yeah no reason to rent one from your ISP when you can buy one at a decent price.

Best bet buy a Modem/get a Cable Modem / Router in one or get a good Cable Modem and Router separate. All depends on how you want your Internet Setup. If one goes bad you can still keep the other but if the all in one goes bad well cost effective is my suggestion for sure.

Yes, the modem/router combo is pretty cost effective. Our DSL modem is a combo but the wireless on it isn't very good so I use an ASUS for the WiFi and I can go a block and a half away and still pick it up.

Motorola and Cisco are going to be your top two cable modems out there. I just found a review that might be helpful:

I've never had any problems with D-Link products but I've never used a modem of theirs. This place gives them an average rating.
