Someone did bring this up - this is the educational version...HOWEVER per Adobe's site there is no difference between the two except pricing. Except I somehow got charged fully so I didn't even get that. My loss your gain!

Dunno why it makes any difference since per Adobe's website as of CS all products are for both personal and commercial work. All activation information is included and it has never been registered.

It's more along the lines of needing to insure it - I don't feel comfortable sending something like this without insurance. I have only ever installed this on a single computer...I've heard you can do two but I'm not sure on that.

In the past when I have gotten the education version (I was in school and could get the discounts offered to students), when it was time to update, I had to buy the full software package. I wasn't allowed to just buy the updates. Also, education version software usually doesn't include all of the features (like special effects filters and such) that you find in the full version and the software maker doesn't spell out any differences.

Dunno how long ago that was but I work as a professional in the industry. Yes when the new version comes out you have to buy the entire new suite or buy updates for portions of it - hence my jump to CS4 (cheaper to buy the whole thing). I have a friend with a non-educational version and after years we've yet to find any differences. Adobe specifically announced that as of the CS line with the acquisition of Macromedia the ONLY difference between educational and non was price in order to promote college education. Also...listia...FREE! Plus you can find literally thousands if not tens of thousands free brushes, fonts, plug-ins, patterns and other presets online.

Each new version is just a new version...CS3 is actually what most of the industry is still using. No subscription is ever necessary. Enjoy!
