Thanks, wish I could have put all the pieces at once its a great set.
awesome auction but I believe this is most likely a coffe set as the tea set would have a small pot for getting rid of the warming water. please fan me back. thank you for sharing
It is part of the ceremony where they steep the tea and before they do they warm the pot with hot water and pour this water into the extra little water bowl and then they place the tea into the pot to steep. It is just the way they do it. I have attened many tea ceremonies in England - they are fantastically long and ceremonious. hope this helps to clarify.
I have a mini tea pot that has a hole in the top but there's no hole in the spout, I thought it was for small flowers. like I said in my description the set was left to me, I have two pots, one must be for coffee but they look exactly alike. This is my first time doing this auctioning and maybe I should listed the whole set together,i wish I had talked to you earlier. thank you very much for your insight, after I take out all of the china may I call on you if I have a question.
I have some of these pieces. I love them. They are beautiful and I've been collecting them for my daughter. Her middle name is Rose and thought it would be great to give her when she is older. Love it and will bid!!
This set is from Japan most likely as I have several sets of this design and most are marked Japan. NO English, so English tea protocol is not in question here..LOL. The pattern is Moss Rose.
