Hi, I'm new to this site. If we win an auction, do we pay for the shipping of the stuff? Or if we create an auction, do we have to pay for the shipping to whoever bids the highest?

Candice, every auction should indicate whether the item will ship for free or for a fee. When selling, you may charge to ship an item, but it does negatively effect the number and value of bids you'll receive, since people will have to pay you money and trust that you will ship the item. Obviously when you're new to Listia, that is harder to do. Listia really is a community-based auction system, with people commenting on and recommending auctions, encouraging and yes, sometimes criticizing. There are nice sellers and buyers and not so nice sellers and buyers, and the feedback system helps to determine who is who. If you want more information, check out the rules page at http://www.listia.com/rules. I suggest starting out slowly by auctioning something you already own. Choose something you know is relatively desireable but not too heavy, so shipping won't be too much. If you are able, pay for shipping for a few auctions to prove you're trustworthy, but if you can't afford it, try to keep the amount as low as possible. Be patient--the more good auctions you've had, the more people will trust you and be more likely to bid higher.

So good of you to help out. I often help a friend's son or my cousins in the past too, which is how I ended up with so much extra.

If my son would use it for school, I'd hold on to it, but we've gotten his supplies down to a science now. At the end of the year, he donated the half dozen notebooks and folders that sat in his locker all year--no point in keeping them.

You are truly blessed--and because you appreciate your blessings, you keep receiving them, and then passing more blessings on. :)

Got to get those kids ready for school--can't have them heading to class with a slate and piece of chalk anymore. Not like in the old, old days. LOL.
