Description

The listing, WORKING Singer Tiny Serger Over-edging Machine in Box has ended.

21 day listing...I want to let it run it's course. Thank you in advance for not asking me to shorten the time :D

The box has seen better days but it's been used to store this tiny gal.

This serger reportedly has a light but I never saw a light or even a spot for one. I tend not to sew in the dark so it was a non-issue. :)

This listing includes the working serger (tested), foot-pedal, the power plug, 1 needle, 3 safety discs to keep the spools secure, & the starter threads so you can get right to playing with it when it arrives.

It has all 4 rubber feet but they don't fit tightly. A little dab of glue would set them permanently in place if you want them that way.

This listing will NOT include the tweezers for threading, HOWEVER, the tweezers (as well as extra needles) are quite easily acquired at craft stores.

I will be sending it pre-threaded. If you're mindful of your thread level you can use the "tie-off" method & you'd be fine without the tweezers until you get around to picking up a pair.

Instructions ARE available online. You will need to download or print them if you want them as I lost mine almost as soon as I started using it. Yes...it really is so easy to use that you can practically just get started.

Use this sweet little machine along with your regular sewing machine to give your projects a more professional looking finished seam & prevent fraying .It's a wonderful first serger but as you can see in the back-ground...it's a gate-way serger, certain to lead to an addiction to bigger & stronger sergers. I have 2 regular-sized sergers I've up-graded to & it's time to let someone else enjoy her...& be dragged to the darkside like I was (muah-haha ha).

Question/comments are welcome but please understand that I may not get to them for up to 5 or 6 days. I have family stuff that won't prevent me from shipping during the listia's guidelines but I tend not to get online for several days at a time.

I have a full sized serger that's never been used because I can't understand the directions for threading it..This thing will make you feel stupid real fast..hahaha
You have convinced me the smaller one might be best to start on..Thanks.

Threading is difficult on most, if not all sergers. This one is no exception, BUT...once threaded, except for the threads going to your needle, you can tie them off to a new spool & carefully bring it through by lowering the tension all the way & trimming the tails of the tied off threads really close. Don't give up...a serger is a many-splendored thing! :)
However...if you're not up for the task of threading it then this one would be an easy start until you wanna tackle it.
Most come pre-threaded. If yours did & you did NOT remove the threads...google the process of tying off. Super easy & the visual helps.

Ladies... to thread the serger if you already have a spool on it.. just tie the new thread to it.. take one thread at a time to do this.. just pull slow... needle one you can do too .. but will have to thread needle by self.. also.. on front of serger..use a blue dental floss holder.. fits right through the loopers... being leagly blind i use the dental holder instead of tweesers.
just send me a message if anyone needs help with the machine..
great auction... ladies is a steal..

I'm not sure I understand the dental holder part but if you have time perhaps you can elaborate? My vision is pretty bad too, so I'm always down for helpful tips.

I did make sure to re-thread this one so her new mother can use the tie-off method. I will just add that once you tie them off it's a good idea to closely trim the tails to the knot.

But it's really just set up to go & anyone should be using it with confidence after a few test runs on scraps.

...googled your model number to get more information about the machine and i found out thattttttttttttttttt... if you try to thread the machine with the foot pedal plugged in, that it disables the light. Guess it's a safety precaution.

Already a fan, watching...

Yeah, I need to learn how to read (stuff). I have a tendency to think I KNOW how to do something & won't bother with reading instructions.

Related story...many moons ago I accidentally let out some profanity in a long line at the grocery store because I don't read things. The line was so long that I was reading the back of the Krazy-Glue package to distract me from boredom. I read that you are supposed to first WET porcelain before applying glue & let out an amazed "NO $H!T?!?" in the middle of this massive line. The good Lord alone knows how many failed glue-the-handle-back-on-a-mug attempts I have behind me. I always thought Krazy-glue was just garbage, but it turns out I'm just a know-it-all who did it wrong.

So it seems this thing has a light & I never found it because I'm...well...I think we get the point.

BTW...I got fabric from you before to the tune of 13 yards, which I mentioned I was going to put all into one dress. I get side-tracked but the project is slowly in the works & I never forgot you requested a picture of that. You'll get one when I finish it :)

I so wanted this and have listed more in this short time than I ever have - but the bids are going so high I am losing hope of winning. I am happy that you are getting more what you should for it - Listia is a mixed bag. Best of luck to you. If I can't get it I hope it gets a good home and that you get more credits for it than you hoped.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked to see how high they went...not cuz it isn't worth it with free shipping...but I have also had valuable things go for next to nothing. Never know what's gonna happen here!

please fan me back. I can't believe you are giving away a serger. I can't use a regular machine much less a serger. I have a brand new regular sewing machine sitting in my back room because I can't figure out how to use the thing. I do every single bit of my stitching by hand. Someone is going ot be so very fortunate to own their very own serger. I am seriously considering bidding on this one. It is small enough that it will fit in the space I have and then maybe with two machines I can finally figure out to operate just one of them. lol f/w/mb

Ok, seriously...a serger is easier to use than a sewing machine. By far. Feed fabric...press petal.
You may have to adjust tension from time to time but that's easy enough.
Machines are trickier because they do much more & you have to learn how to change this or that to do what you want to do. BUT...though it's easier, it's limited in what it can do. Of course, it's awesome to have the finished edges on your projects & that's one reason we all love our sergers :D

What kind of machine do you have?

Hiya
I have to say that maybe I missed something about why fanning or being fanned is beneficial. BTW...I don't say this in a snotty way, I really think I missed something. I only have like 4 people that I fanned because they always offer fabrics I like. I understood that to be a way of being able to quickly find the people who tend to offer things you like so you can check for new listing. So if we fan a lot of people, doesn't that just make it harder to find the listers who have the stuff you want to get?

If anyone has a second, I'd love to know what I've missed :)

I've been thinking about buying a serger. This would be a nice start.

I bought a Huskvarna Embroidery machine I'm learning to use. I plan to lots if decorating. I also bought a bunch of craft and pet clothes patterns that I plan to start making stuff soon.

I also have a sewing machine I bought 40 some years ago and three antique sewing machines we inherited. I sold one on eBay a while back. It's getting crowded in our house. Your little serger may be a good idea.

Before the frie, I had so many sewing machines it wasn't funny. My husband hated my craft room and the attic. But I will agree with you once you use a serger you want a bigger bad boy one. *But I still adore my treadle sewing machine, no electricity needed. (thank gosh it was in the garage to be greased and a new strap .) Good luck with the auction. ; - )

Except for the mystery light situation & loose fit of the rubber feet mentioned in the post, nope. She's in great working order. It was only used a handful of times before I got the big-bad-boy serger.
I don't really know how many layers it can go through & I'm sure that would depend on the thickness of the material used as well. Tiny as she is, she's a pretty tough machine so I think she could handle a few layers of any fabric that wasn't too heavy. I believe the recommended needle is a 14 so I don't think it's intended for use on extra-heavy fabrics, in any case. Sorry I can't be more specific but I hope what info I could offer was helpful.

Great Auction !! Love to bid closer to end if I have enough credits.
Hope I don't overstep my bounds but :
Here is the link for the manual
http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1212_ts380.pdf

For the mystery light : The manual tells you to UNPLUG the FOOT PEDAL..but leave the power adapter plugged in. An internal threading light will automatically come on. They explain it in the manual. As soon as you plug the foot pedal back in the internal threading light will go off.

LMAO...just like me to not read the manual all the way through. Thanx for sharing the link. I was going to email it to the winner at close of auction because I somehow thought I couldn't link on the page. Kind of like how ebay has filters & will block that in any listing. But alas, it can be done. Thanx!

Good luck with bidding. I do the same thing...I set an alarm for like the day before so I don't forget a listing :)

I am going to try my hand at "Kat-Wise" Sweater Coats. LOL She uses a Serger to do hers, but they can be done with a regular sewing machine, but it takes twice as long to make. I put my sewing machine on here and it did fairly well.
This should do well on here!! Sergers are quite expensive to buy!!

I've seen those. I have a stash of sweaters I have been building up for over a year to make one with. And no...this would not be good for that. I think you're gonna need the one that cuts.

Very nice and generous auction!! This would be very nice to start out with and learn from I would think. What I would need it for tho, would mostly be a bit too much for it.
Best of luck to the bidders and Happy Serging!! ;)))) F&W :)))

Happy serging INDEED :)
I think for most people's needs it would be ideal I see machines listed from time to time with various levels of "working" status but have never seen a serger. I was going to sell it but I thought that people able to spend money on one had options & here it had the potential to go to someone who may not have the funds for one but could really use it & enjoy the crap out of it!!! :D
I mis-read your comment originally as saying what you'd need to get FOR IT would be too much. Just in case anyone else does too...all you need to get for it is the tweezers for threading...& I assume everyone expects to have to buy their own threads & replacement needles ;)

I like the cutting knives too but I bet I'm not alone...starting out...those knives are terrifying. And of course...for some on a budget, even if you prefer the cutting option...hard to beat the price if ya can't swing the purchase!

Excellent! A serger is a beautiful thing. Someone once told me that once I get a serger I'd never want to use my regular machine again & I was like "you shut your mouth when you're talking to me! I LOVE my machine"...but alas...she was not wrong. Eventually I got back to using both for more detailed projects but a long tome I was all over my serger..
