Not a dumb question. The weight of magnesium shavings are extremely light so there is more there than it sounds. The 4 gram bag is 2" x 3" and is stuffed full. Remember a little goes a long way. (A metric unit of mass equal to one thousandth of a kilogram. It is equivalent to 15.432 grains or 0.002 205 pounds g). Hope this helps.

4 grams / (28 grams/ounce) = 1/7th of an ounce. A US nickel weighs 5 grams.
