Description

The listing, Amazing pr. of miniature portraits has ended.

These are very nice...not sure of the age or even the material...it's looks to be an ivory or celluloid type framing...engraving all over the frames and pieced together puzzle like on the front..I haven't seen a frame like this before..the couple looks to be from the 1700s..possibly french? I don't think this is from that period, but definitely OLD...the frames are approx 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 ins..the portraits themselves 2 3/4 by 3 1/4 ins...the ladies portrait is missing it's hanger..very unique pieces..I will consider get it now offers, but not under the starting bid

Can you tell me: a) are the photos actual photos, painted or prints... If you can tell? And b) is there glass over the photos? And c) is that a metal soldering I see around the inside of the oval? These are beautiful. Thank you for offering.

My mother had one like this, as I recall it had french newspaper for a backing that looked old, but I never was sure if they were really old or modern reproductions, but they are lovely! Ours was sealed from the back so you couldn't tell for sure.

Most one Ebay are $80 up to $500 unsigned or signed, if you can identify the people I'm sure that would make them worth even more!! My ballpark price for the pair would be $150 to $300 minimum
