Game has a couple very light scratches, plays perfect..

Gamestop can more then likely buff out scratches.

But you took a working game apart. Most people who are looking for Skylanders don't have portals. Its like selling a cell phone, and then listing the screen separately. Or selling a computer but listing the hard drive separately.

No I did not the portals work with all Skylander games..
You don't have to buy a new portal because you got a new game..
This game was not bought with a portal it was bought separately because we had a portal already and didn't need another one.
This game does work perfectly with nothing wrong with it and you have the option if you don't have a portal to bid on the portal that I have up for auction or you can go find one in the store... It's your choice

ok , so that explains it then..
I was at target in canada today and was looking at the skylanders kits and seen the portals are very different and also seen that each system has its own portal.. I think they did it like that to capitalize on it... Thanks

I have no idea, you could always goole it or call sony to find out ...
But I believe you can't coz you also need the skylander figurines for it

correct , the game interacts with the portal for the game.
The portal is a base that is for the skylanders to go onto and the skylanders get transmitted into the game that you put onto the base to play.

So why would you sell this without the portal? This is basically a non-working game because you listed the portal separately.

Because some people have portals.. and some people don't!!!
so I had requests from others on here, to list just a portal so the portal is also in my auctions. So if you need a portal as well you can always bid on the portal I have listed... I also have a bunch of skylanders listed too

The portal and disk are synced as I have found out through trial and error. The game will not play without the portal and no you can not use just any portal. Gamestop and Pawn shops will not take or sell either alone.I have all the games to date and even I need to remember which portal I am using.Even more so when my children swap there portal for mine as a joke.

we had 2 portals.. the games worked on each of them .. the portals also worked on the wii , xbox360 and the ps3 .. one was a wired portal and the other was wireless.. could that be because we bought when they first came out?

we had 2 portals listed , one with a disc and one separately, because some people on here wanted me to just list a portal, as that's all they wanted..
So that's why I did one separately and that is why you have a game that is sold separately. I will be listed as skylander starter kit.. if you inbox me and tell me what system you're looking for maybe I can get that starter kit for the system that you're looking for ;-)
