The listing, Josef Schuster 4/4 Violin Bow High Quality has ended.

This bow is in beautiful condition with only a few small scratches in the tip (see 5,6 picture)
It needs to be rehaired sometime in the near future (which costs around $60.) Considering the quality of this bow, this is an absolute steal.

Awesome auction! Obviously knowlesa1 doesn't know what she's talking about, she doesn't even seem to know that the bow isn't tightened in the picture--something that is quite obvious--not messed up. I played the violin and would loved to have had a quality bow like this. Certainly wouldn't get one for $5 like she seems to think! Fanned and watching--I can't keep from spending my credits as soon as I earn them, so I have nowhere near enough to even think about bidding.

Good luck!

Thanks! I was hoping maybe someone who couldn't afford a nice one like this might have been saving up their credits (I have been trying to do the same because I need a good tablet badly. My laptop is about to die). :) I know if you search this maker online, the only two offers are one used viola bow on ebay for $289 +shipping, and these exact violin bows new from the place that verified mine when I was having a violin repaired. If it doesn't go this time, I might wait a few months and try to post it one more time. I was hoping it was helpful to see it loose (first couple of pics) and tightened (later pics).

F&W! I've waited so long and never seen a full violin bow and just last year I sold mine. Uugh. Talk about timing. You listed this very nicely. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks! I was hesitant to list it, but I barely play any more myself and I still have two other bows. I bought a used violin with several bows for my nephew, and this was in the case. The violin wasn't fixable, but all of the bows were in beautiful condition and nice quality. I'm glad that this might be helpful to you! :)

I stopped for awhile. (Just got busy with other things.) It's wonderful to go back to it. I've have to dust off and get better again. :)

I can't believe the comment from knowlesa1 and hhh566. Why are there always haters. This is a fantastic bow and their just trying to keep the bids down so they can win. I worked in a fantastic music store for many years and bows like this even used ran between $400 - $850. This bow is excellent in quality no matter which way you look at it. If I played the violin AND had the credits, I would snap this up in a heart beat. Don't let the haters get you down. This is one of the best auctions I have seen for a very long time. I would wish you good luck but I don't think your going to need it. Someone who knows quality is going to fall in love with this and snap it right up. Thanks for listing such a treasure.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I wanted to post some things that I would think were awesome. I'm not worried about the people who don't know the value of it, they aren't the people this bow should be owned by. :) Someone who knows the value of it will give it a good home.

Very nice piece. Wish I had that kind of points to spend. I'll wager most people don't realize what good quality violin bows actually cost. In my case, I went with a lower quality bow, 150 dollars, the best I could afford and only because it was on sale for half price. Still not a high end bow, but for my 300 dollar violin, quite good enough. Hate the cheap plastic bows that are around, and can't be rehaired. 60 dollars for a rehairing is rather mild, it can cost much more than that, depending on the quality and type of hair used. Of course, the uninitiated won't understand what a real bargain this is. I do, and wish I could do it.

Thanks! It's surprising the hidden cost of quality supplies and items for ANY hobby, but I find music and art have some of the most expensive accessories. :) If it doesn't go this time, I might relist it again in the future. I haven't decided yet.

Somebody will appreciate this. It was a bucket list to play violin...and I ended up teaching myself bass guitar after going to a Metallica Concert in 2009. I'm a piano player so it was easy. Thanks for replying. I hope your nephew goes far.

I saw the comments about musical talent, and though I don't play anything, my husband has a 6 or 7 fret spread. .. But he's a drummer... Good luck! Fanned

Omg!! My bow broke during my Christmas concert a few days ago so this looks like a totally amazing auction!!!!! Lol it broke in the middle of the song (and I seriously don't even know why) and it sucked because I didn't have another bow. But if I win this, it will totally be AMAZING!!!!! Thanks for the auction!!!!

Good luck! I think the worse I ever did was accidentally sit on my violin. I was practicing and had to run into the other room to answer the phone and when I came back, I'd forgotten my violin was still in my seat and PLOP. Hello repair shop. lol

By the way, the price of this is low for the quality. I don't know if there are many out there with that kind of points available though. Might be tough sell. By the way Min, there's a reason there is space in almost every violin case for at least two bows. I've seen and heard of bows that cost thousands. My bow cost more than my violin, it's a rather low end one, originally 300, I got it used for less. I used to repair them, but I've got out of the business, the cost of parts makes repairs too expensive for the average player, especially the beginners that often need help the most.

I know the points are high, but like I said, I know some people are saving, and I thought I'd post it here first. I don't particularly like to sell things elsewhere, and I enjoy most of the people on here. :)

Tootall1121, I almost always carry around 2 bows with me just in case but my friend's bow also broke because it was pretty cheap and I let her use my other one lol

My problem is breaking strings. I can never have enough strings in my case. I was at a concert and the conductor used to scream, "Play hard enough to break your strings!" at the 1st violinists, and sure enough during the concert, my A and E string snapped in the middle of a piece where both strings were played together. lol

dragon, I get what you mean, not only is it better here, there aren't the fees to pay either. You should see my fee bill this go around. I could buy the bow for cash with what I have to pay this time around. Strings can be expensive too, you're apparently playing on a professional level with symphonic strings. They're not only expensive, they break way too easy for the price paid. I use "fiddle" strings, because of the style I play. They last much longer, stay in tune well, but don't have that lilty sound of true violin strings.

dragonariaes, haha I've broken a few strings as well while playing and occasionally my friend has to lend me some of her extra strings because I have to go out and get some more lol
