Although they made only two full albums during their existence, The Woodentops were briefly pivotal in the fast changing late 80s music scene, the adoption of their song ‘Why Why Why’ by Ibiza's nascent Balearic scene in 1987 neatly encapsulated a moment when indie rock and dance music crossed over one another. Until that point, with the exceptions of New Order and the yet-to-explode Happy Mondays, the two worlds had been rigorously and separately defined, ‘Why Why Why’ becoming an avatar of the coming indie-dance crossover.
They are still remembered by a generation of musicians and DJs – not least huge fans David Bowie, Morrissey and Noel Gallagher.

This review is from: Wooden Foot Cops on the Highway (Audio CD)
This is guitar oriented pop. Not hard on the ears at all. As the editrial review says, it is unique, as well. It is somewhat to contempory British pop bands like South, Stereophonics and Elbow, at least compared to death metal.
This was one of my favorite albums back in the 80's. The sound holds up well today. Heaven and You Make Me Feel are the highlights in my book.
I'd by this again and recommend it to anyone who likes the style (if you like one song on this album, you'll like them all).
