Description

The listing, BlackBerry STORM!!! Low GIN! Read Description! has ended.

Here I have a BlackBerry Storm, It had some water damage so the camera does not work,(well at least it didn't work for me) The phone will need to be fixed though, because since the camera does not work it interferes with the way the phone function, but with the phone you get the house phone charger, and the phone case! The case is not torn its in good condition but can tell it's been use, and the charger is a little worn too, but still works! You get all this for free! and free shipping and if you use the gin i will throw in a 8 gig SD card with the phone! Best wishes! and HAPPY BIDDING!
Questions & Comments

No you cant have them for "free" because I dont state anywhere that they're "free", they cost money. Credits is just a different form of money. Last time I checked with Listia, credits arent free, they cost money. The only other way to get credits is to sell your own items, which isnt free either. So no, not "in reality" are they free, or anything close to free. When you give something away and it doesnt cost a dime, then it will be free. Simple as that. Your not fooling anyone by saying somethings free, when everyone knows its not. Im not giving you a hard time, im just clearing things up for people who dont understand why this isnt really free. And i dont ever say on any of my auctions that somethings free, because its not, plain and simple. Thats all.

Thanks for your thought on that, I think it is good that listia users should be clear on every thing we do and say on listia.

Free as in you don't have to pay real money for it, you can use your credits instead of real money, so in reality it's free in that sense.Yeah like the lot of 29 (free) DVD's you have up for auction can I have those for free? Best wishes if your going to bid.

what does it mean when you put down G.I.N.?

Aug 23rd, 2011 at 10:02:29 AM PDT by

G.I.N is a abbreviation for Get it now, so you can use Get it now to, like it says get whatever the person is selling now, instead of having the risk of losing the auction with bidding, hope this helped you in some way, best wishes!

Actually you get free credits for signing up, I was able to get something for free without selling anything or paying for shipping when I first got here, so it's not really a ploy.

Really nice auction.

So Really Is There Anything Wrong With It Except The Camera ?
+1
Aug 24th, 2011 at 6:07:10 PM PDT by

From what I can see, thats the only thing, I never even got to use the phone, as soon as I got it, it got wet and the camera may be a hardware problem so i'm trying to reset it so I can see if the camera works.

I'm not going to be able to do that, because i paid for the phone, and i am trying to get something from it. Why don't you try to get a cheaper phone, because then you might be able to get it for free, and be able to pay for the plan for the phone as well. I'm sorry I could not help, wish i could have. Best wishes to you!

Thank you for the info about the water and how it got wet, that will help alot of people decide if they want this. I dont know what the hard reset process is for Verizon blackberrys right off hand, but you can either Google it, or go to YouTube and search there, and you'll definetly find the answer. Try the hard reset, then see if you can take pictures, i think you might be able to. If you still cant and get the same error message, then its hardware related, but it could be minor. It could just be some type of adhesive getting just a little wet and not allow a shutter or somethign else to open correctly. It could be fixed with it being taken apart and cleaned and dried out with a hair dryer, or put in a bag and stuck in a giant bag of kitty litter for a day. Hate to give away all my tricks, but most of this is common knowledge anyways. Worst comes to worst, the camera can be disabled both in the software and by unclipping it from the motherboard, and I believe it can be replaced seperately by buying a replacement camera, im not 100% sure on that, i know on other cameras its possible. Thanks and ill be watching and probably bidding.

Yea I will look into the hardware reset, I had dried the phone out already, it had gotten wet a year ago, and i put it in a bowl of rice for i don't how long, I let it sit out, air out, and I did other things, so I think it is completely dried out , I just have to try that software reset, and thanks for the tricks!

Now, aside from that, can I just ask a couple questions about this phone. Can you possibly check the back, under the battery or around that area, you should see a red dot or green dot, i cant remember which color. When that gets wet, it changes color. Can you tell me what color the dot is? Also can you explain the type of water damage? Did it just get rained on a little, or did it fall in the toilet and get totally submerged? Can you go into a little more detail of how the camera not working interferes with the operation of the phone? Im just trying to determine if its fixable by me, and i dont have to send it out, as then it wouldnt be worth it, to me anyways. Have you tried doing a hard reset? Do you think the camera not working could be software related maybe? Was it salt water or fresh water? Thanks.
Aug 23rd, 2011 at 1:24:12 PM PDT by
Original
Ok, on the back the dot is red, and it has never been submerged in water, rain got on it, and well what happens sometimes is the camera keeps trying to open when you have the phone on and when it does open it says " Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening camera again." and no I have never tried to reset it because I never thought to do that, so I will try that and I have the phone on right now and it has not done that camera thing in a long time, so maybe it fix it self but I am still going to try to reset it and if it does the camera thing starts happening again, then I think that that maybe software related, and I think the camera not working maybe software related too, rain water is fresh water, so it was fresh water. I hope this helped.

From what i see no, but the only thing is the camera since it does not work it interferes with the way the phone functions, sometimes it does then sometimes it doesn't but other than that no.

Contact support @ Verizon . Sometimes even when you attempt a hard reset it won't work. If you have already updated the software then it could be a hardware issue
Call tech support at Verizon may be able to help.
After I googled it, It appears that this might be a more common issue with these phones then one thought
