FREE: Very Old US postage stamp, 2c Andrew Jackson from 1879

The listing, Very Old US postage stamp, 2c Andrew Jackson from 1879 has ended.

Up for auction is another REALLY old US stamp-- it's a 2c orange with Andrew Jackson-- Scott number 183 with a catalogue value of $5.00-- so not a "common cheapie" stamp. It is in used condition with part of a NEW YORK postmark. Nice and bright looking with good perforations and no writing on the back; there IS a small thin on the back but overall really nice for a 135-year old stamp!

Here's the bigger scoop: My mom and stepdad both passed away a few years ago, and I've been going through some of their old stuff-- they were both dedicated "savers" of everything. In some ways, I guess they were borderline "hoarders." My stepdad accumulated stamps, and this is from his collection-- although it's more like a giant pile of messy album pages and envelopes.

I think people should have fun bidding on stuff-- that's what auctions are all about! So the starting bids for my stuff will always be is FIVE credits, and we go from there, no matter HOW valuable something might be.
