Description

The listing, Antique/Vintage (Mosser?)Slag Glass Opaline Cat! Adorable! has ended.

Antique or Vintage Opaline Milk Glass Slag Cat , i don't see an M at the base of the tail so I'm not sure, if it's very early Mosser piece, unmarked or possibly Atterbury,Fenton, or what but it clearly is old and been in my family for as long as I can remember(I'm 60 yrs old, and my Grandparents died just a few years before I was born. so I would say this is early 1950's or could be earlier , since it was theirs and they were not collecting in they later years),But it is old! (I know I am!!Lol!),The tail , face and fur, are very defined, more than most Mosser pieces I've seen , so if it's Mosser it could be among the very earliest ones , made(Molds tend to wear over time and lose definition with each use).Maybe someone here on Listia knows about this! I would love to know more myself! I've had it for ages! But my son is my only heir and he says sell! If you GIN this one and my other China Cat (see my other listings!) or any of my other auctions, I can combine shipping, but I reserve the right to say no if it's not safe to ship two items together (in most cases, it's fine!) Higher shipping rate applies (Ie. if you GIN the Milk Glass Fenton Candy dish I can put several items with , at no extra charge!) I ship USPS,with tracking and $50 Insurance, you can pay with Paypal or concealed cash(wrapped in letter paper or a card). No refunds no returns, but I assure you the condition of this is fine. (See pics) the mark on the bottom is called a "pontil" mark which indicates it was hand blown into a mold.(probably metal) the mark is where they snap the cat off of the metal stick the glass is taken roaring hot from the kiln. After molding it into shape it begins to cool and "jacks" are used to "neck" the piece off of the pontil stick. (You should watch videos on Youtube! It's cool to see how these are made!! ) Ask me questions if you have them, prior to the Auction end! These cats are collectibles by glass and cat lovers alike! Most things are machine made these days!
