As of right now, I can't get it to come on. Not sure why because there was nothing wrong with it before I just had it unplugged from the charger for a couple of weeks. I suspect it may be the charger because I tested it with a voltmeter and it doesn't appear to be working. So I'm going to my friend's who also has an HP and I'll use his charger - if it charges I will take pics of it on to show that it is working. The specs from the bottom sticker are limited but here's what it says HP Pavilion DV3 - it is set up for a wireless internet connect and also has a webcam - it came with a remote (which I think I still have and will include if I find it) but I never used it. Oh and it has Windows Vista on it. If the winner wants the dead charger they can have it, maybe someone will be able to fix it - it's only a year old and has a couple of different adapters that go with it. I have the booklets that came with it too. I will ship this in a medium flat rate box, in the laptop bag I was given to go with it, with tons of extra padding. I got a new laptop for an early Christmas present from my grandma, that's why I'm getting rid of this - the charger for the new one won't work to charge this HP because the tips is different. Anyway, I don't need 2 laptops AND a desktop. The screen is in good condition... any questions let me know - I tried to include everything will be trying to charge her up tomorrow evening and will update then.

I won't know until tomorrow night, if you check back then there will be an update on whether or not it charged. If it does charge I will turn it on and take pics of it on. For now, (tonight) I can post a pic of the charger hooked up to the voltmeter showing that there is no current running through it if anyone would like.

do you mean plugin? I have the charger, when it is plugged in, it doesn't work - there is no electricity going to it - I'm guessing there's a short in it. And yes, the laptop has a battery.

My finger's are crossed my old laptop's wrecked with a bad battery and tons of viruses and I bought it around the same time this came out it might be the same charger.

electrician help: take an ohms reading across to see how much resistance you are getting. maby you blew the transformer. if u get 0.00 ohms then take out the battery and try turning the laptop on. hope that helps. wish I could bid but I only have 438 credits. so good luck people.

I used a voltmeter to test the charger and the needle didn't move, the electrical outlet is fine because I tested the charger for my new laptop and it registers as a 16 on the voltmeter. The charger doesn't work so I can't charge the battery.

hp chargers tend to have problems so big chance it is just the charger fanned and watching!

Im confuesd i have a hp its a older one but my battery dont work it two old to have a charger i think but the battery is in the laptop on the left side and in the back of the laptop on right has the elec pugin And mine works just great pugged in to elec outlit
so is newer hp laptops different than mine or what???

There is something preventing the charger from turning on, and it is not my electrical outlet. It does not matter whether or not it is plugged in because the charger is DEAD, dead as a doornail.

i had the same problem my laptop died and wouldnt even charge so i took it to get looked at and they sait that sence the little lite on the charger wouldnt come on then that ment their was a short in the charger. so i got a new charger and now it works great! they said if the laptop would of set their dead for a long time then it would cause damage and not ever work again

yikes that's not good, I'm glad I didn't just let it sit once I realized the battery was dead, otherwise it wouldn't have charged right up like it did. I am looking into the possibility of getting a charger for it, so whoever gets it won't have to worry about that - just depends on the cost - wonder if they fix old chargers? I mean I've seen them refurbished so those old chargers have to come from somewhere right? LOL - I've been up too long, or had too much caffeine I think :)

Why would someone with that much selling experience ask you to do a GIN??? I feel so sorry for you. I have a lot of hp pc and accessories. The power cords go bad often. Normally it's in the modular (the box on the cord). If the pc is still under warranty, they'll replace it. Their electronics aren't always top of the line, but their customer service has proven to be great in my opinion. If it is out of warranty, there is always amazon, ebay, etc like our friend noted above. BTW, i've looked, but didn't notice what size the screen,what version of windows is it (xp, vista, 7) and what size hard drive?

it's not even the original charger - I lost the original and had to replace it with 1 from Radio Shack - bought a year warranty for it, which conveniently expired in Oct. I didn't put the screen size (it measures 14.5 diagonally, 13 across) but all the other information you're looking for is listed in the update for specifications, or original description.
