Questions & Comments
Original
There is a Fish on one side and a harp on the other. This is a post Decimal coin from Ireland. The 10 Pence was transitions in the 1970s from Shilling and 100 Pence made a Punt while in Great Britain 100 Pence made a Pound. The Countries of the Realm were forced to go Decimal after WW II because of the influence of the US Decimal Monetary System. It was considered easier for Economic World Trade. Yet still English Measures for Volume, distance and weight exist because the US refuses to change to the metric system unlike the rest of the world.
