Welcome to the fossil club..lol..Seriously you have great wisdom & experience which I think comes with how one lives rather than their age..Some people are still living with their parents & have Mom doing their laundry at 31..not my kid..lol..
I used the super fluffy bit on both..I also used optical grade polish for the tiffany that I got from my friend in Cali who I used to work at an optical lab with..That stuff is so much nicer & more gentle I think..Just add a little water..No additional coolant needed.. I used to make eye glasses before there were plastic lenses so learned a lot that is so useful in lapidary..Not to give away my age ..lol..
Ha! Age breeds experience and knowledge! I'm 31 and half the people I talk to online think I'm 50. Lol I take that as a compliment lol puts a smile on my face ;)
This is gorgeous! I collected some very nice fire agate chunks outside Oatman Az many moons ago & someone in the group found a very small stack/cluster like this..Never seen one since..These are not easy to find this nice it seems..Mine has the white banding on edges but the jeweler here said it was gem quality & offered to buy it at a nice price..I could not bare to part with it though..lol..
The stacks are fun pieces :) I don't bother cutting them because they're fun the way they are naturally.. Most of the others I have were the flatter bubbly ones.. They're very difficult to cut. Agates are hard stones and if you get one with fire in it oh man are you on pins and needles trying not to mess it up lol.. I have a couple with some nice fire I was lucky enough to not mess up when cutting and they're my little treasures. I even got them cut in to shapes! I think I have a couple tear drop cuts and a big spindle shaped one. Fire agates are awesome!
I would never attempt cutting a fire agate & I bet they are your treasures....You really are good to achieve shapes I won a raw blue crazy lace druzy agate from Gayle last year & hand polished one side of the banding & that is as far as my lapidary skills go..I perked up a tiffany stone too a little but was really scared of breaking it but it really looks nice now...However I am great at cracking geodes to keep them intact..lol..
They are so beautiful & very ..Ok I cheated & used a dremel for the polish on agate & learned that just polish works good on tiffany..I think fining it would break it but really have no idea how it is done by the pro's..Hand polish is too much for the arthritis in my hands but just had to try it.Sending you a message about something you were looking for
Im not so good with the dremel polish yet.. I think I need rubber bit or somthing softer after the diamond bit before the polish to smooth things out.. I'm still learning with the dremel.. But when I cut I use a cabking at the gem club. I get a nice polish from that.. I need to get one for my house so I can just cut rocks all day lol..
