I have a Frankenstein, resin Cameo Necklace. It measures 30 x 40mm (about 1 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches). Choose an 18, 20, 22 or 24 inch silver plated chain, or an 18 inch, with 2 inch extension, braided black, brown or pink leather chain, or a 20 inch ball chain (dog tag style). Frankenstein is a novel written by English author Mary Shelley that tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a grotesque but intelligent creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was 18, and the 1st edition of the novel was published anonymously in London in 1818, when she was 20. Her name first appeared on the 2nd edition, published in France in 1823. Shelley travelled through Europe in 1814. Stopping in Gernsheim, Germany, which is just 10 miles away from Frankenstein Castle, where 2 centuries before, an alchemist was engaged in experiments. Later, she travelled to Geneva, Switzerland, where much of the story takes place. The occult & other similar ideas were themes of conversation among her companions, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron & John Polidori. They decided to have a competition to see who could write the best horror story. After thinking for days, Shelley dreamt about a scientist who created life & was horrified by what he had made. Her dream later evolved into the novel's story. Frankenstein & Frankenstein's monster, have influenced pop culture for a century. The work has inspired numerous films, television programs, video games & derivative works. The character of the monster remains one of the most recognized icons in horror fiction.
