Description

The listing, Pendant necklace Don Lin has ended.

Chain is about 18" in it's entirely, pendant measures 1.25" across. Marked Don Lin on the reverse. There is a "hole" on the back of the baroque pearl, and I guess it was made that way, does hot show through or detract in any way. Just wanted to state this. Needs cleaning. Nice, unusual, linked chain, too. Feminine.

I am aware of the types of pearls, including geographical location colors like peacock Tahitian pearls, however Freshwater pearls are grown in mussels, nothing having to do with their size. Baroque pearls are irrelgularly shaped, but more so in waves and natural rings on the pearl, and since this one is "cut in half" that would make it a Mabe pearl. But yes, I didn't believe it was a real pearl, but I was just wondering because sometimes you can get lucky here on Listia, plus it's a very lovely necklace :)

What type of metal is it? And how do you know it's a real pearl?

It's not a "real" pearl, if you're referring to a freshwater pearl, which is very tiny, or a cultured pearl, which is created by inserting a grain of sand into an oyster and allowing the oyster to "cover" the sand grain, which creates the pearl, or a "real" pearl, which is quite expensive, and harvested by getting lucky, per se. A baroque pearl refers to an irregularly shaped pearl, and since this is costume jewelry, I'm going to assume it's not one of the above. I only meant that it had an irregular shape and it looks like a pearl! As to the metal, not real gold, just gold tone. That's anyone's guess. If you search Don Lin, you may find out more than I know.
