The listing, Heirloom Tennessee Sweet Potato Pumpkin 20 Seeds has ended.

Tennessee Sweet Potato Pumpkin 20-25lbs (Cucurbita argyrosperma), please do not confuse this with a Cushaw Squash. Last two pics are the source of the seed when it was first introduced "Burpee's Farm Annual for the Southern States," 1883, but there are other tidbits on the net as the original source of the seed. 2016 was my 1st year with this very old pumpkin and it was a pleasure to grow and eat. You'll find little information on the net but I documented the growth and uses. The leaves of this plant are very attractive large white speckles and the vines and leaves themselves still have the picky spines on them, most pumpkins these days have that trait bred out of them, but if you are in a squash vine borer region these plants take care of themselves, I was impressed with that. The plants are resistant to powdery mildew, extremely prolific and shot out small fruit until the 1st frost. I tried them young stuffed and baked (see pic) they were quite delicious, not watery kinda baked like eggplant, we ate them all summer! Fully ripe fruit is a light, dry non stringy flesh i grated it raw and froze to keep for squash casserole in the winter, used it like yellow squash, has kind of a nutty flavor. The seeds are huge and they roast very well. The pumpkins kept well 6 months and I still have one in the kitchen that has reached 7 months so this is a great winter keeper. These pumpkins were isolated to keep their heritage. I never use chemical fertilizers or pesticides on my gardens so feel safe when bidding. As always free shipping and thanks for checking this out.
