Description

The listing, Prickly Pear Fruit Cactus Seeds (10) has ended.

This auction is for 10 prickly pear cactus seeds harvested from my own cactus (in the potted picture above). The cactus will put out yellow flowers, which when germinated will produce small red fruits. These fruits are very much like kiwis and will make an excellent jam! The cactus will grow more and more fruits each year and you can harvest the seeds to grow even more! Add some rhubarb to the jam and it will make a nice strong jam that goes great on pretty much anything!

These seeds are fresh, so they may take some time to germinate, but they will (and given the weed-like nature of this cactus, you'll get a high yield!). I've taken the first step in germinating these seeds (washed ALL pulp off the seeds and dried them). When you receive the seeds, you'll need to soak them in acid (orange or lemon juice will do) for several hours, them wash and soak in water for several more hours. Plant these directly from the water into the soil on the surface, gently pressing them into the soil.

This process simulates going through the digestive track on animals. The seeds will take some time to germinate to wait for the feces of the animal which ate it to make the soil around it rich. Sounds gross, I know, but these are very effective cactus, so they must be doing something right!

Only some of the 200+ species contain trace amounts of mescaline, and the eastern prickly pear is NOT one of them. Also, trying to get high off of a species that DID would be like trying to get drunk off of Pepsi: yes Pepsi has trace amounts of alcohol (as does almost any drink), but the amount needed to get you drunk would literally kill you from hyper-hydration...
