Description

The listing, "Book of Shadows" book safe has ended.

FREE SHIPPING! This is a book safe for storing precious things, like jewelry. It has an inner vault space of about 3" X 5" X 1". The covers are strengthened with 1/8" Cherry. It opens on a hinge I made from tin. Everything is reinforced with tin, and it locks automatically when you close it. It opens via a hole cut through the top, hidden by a removable steam punk device that serves to hide the hole. I'm including a cross on a necklace which can be worn as jewelry, and used to insert in the hole and open the safe. The cross is made from a hammered out nail, screwed together with jeweler's screws and soldered on the back. It bares my OUTLAW logo engraved on the back. This is not that sturdy, and could be forced open by someone who doesn't mind destroying the book safe. It may keep out honest people, and it is sort of an oddity as most of my stuff, a real conversation piece. If you want an actual vault, you should look somewhere else. I ship USPS 2 day priority ASAP usually the day after the auction ends when the winner posts a verified Listia address. Good Luck!

My Resolution is so terrible, so I was wondering if you can tell me what is Inside of the Clear Mechanism in the Front, where the Lock is also?

Your response is so very much appreciated!

The clear mechanism is a painted top and cap from a medicine bottle. It has antique watch parts, gears, bezel, and other important looking stuff mounted with brass offsets under the clear top of the cap. The cap unscrews, and you can remove it. So you can access a hole through the cherry, tin, and cardboard to insert the cross (or something pointed) to push back the spring latch mounted beneath, in the vault, that keeps it shut. It locks back automatically when you press the book covers together. The clear mechanism doesn't actually do anything except hiding the hole that lets you access the latch in order to open it. An opposing spring keeps reverse tension on the cover, so it pops open when you move the latch through the hole in the cover. Did I answer your question? Do you have other questions? ty
