This is a vintage "Boye" Combnation Hooked Rug and Punch Embroidery Needle in the original box. The package says it has Four needles and gauge. All are here. So is the original Instruction sheet. It also has an advertisement for their chrochet hooks on the other side. The box has been taped at some point decades ago at both ends.
I don't know the exact age of this piece but I suspect it is from around the years 1906 to 1915. This definately pre WWI. All the pieces are marked Made in the USA with various sizes. Except the gage - it's marked JAPAN on it.

This is a very nice old set that would look great in any collection. This is a fully functional museum quality piece of sewing history.

I found the following online about Boye. "Founded in 1906, Boye® Needle Company was the first American manufacturer of crochet hooks and knitting needles. Precision knitting needles, crochet hooks, supplies and accessories are the core of Boye Needle’s business. The high degree of quality and accuracy of gauge resulted in Boye sizing being the defined as the U.S. Standard and is used by yarn companies in making their patterns."

This is really amazing and the condition is excellent! I checked out your pictures and they still make rug/punch embroider tools the same way. Why change it if it works that well! The Boye Co. set the standard of quality for many things in their field that still hold true today. These things were more necessity than hobby for a number of years and several of their products are still made virtually the same way. I won't be home for a few days or I would be seriously trying for this to add to my collection. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. You do manage to come up with some great stuff! Fanned you too!
