hello everyone :)

Well, I was not going to hold another auction until after Christmas but, certain activities on here, has pushed me to hold this auction.
While I am auctioning off a $5.00 Gift Card, my purpose is something entirely.
Every once in awhile, I will ask fellow Listians a question on something I find...unfair? Outrageous? Absurd?
I welcome all replies, positive and negative..if there are negative comments to my question, then I want an explanation to why. If you cannot explain yourselves, then I may delete your reply..because if you cannot validate your answer..then really, it holds no water.
My "Gripe"
While we do have the luxury of doing GIN's on our auctions, I find more and more people are being, well frankly...stupid.
I will not name names but, I ran across a Walmart gift card for $5.00. The person stated they won the GC. They held their auction for 20 days and they listed a GIN for 30,000 credits. Yes, you read correctly...30,000 credits and that was still for the $5.00 gift card.
Of course we do not have to take the GIN. BUT, the person had the nerve to state they are a trusted seller. As if that would make a difference.
My belief, they had the auction go for 20 days, because they probably thought someone would be dumb enough to use the GIN.
Now, some people can say; "well, then someone is stupid if the take a GIN for that amount."
What I want to explain and how I feel is this; People are desperate this time of the year. there are many members who find things to auction throughout the year, to save up enough credits, in the hope of winning gift cards, to be able to buy their children, spouse, Mother..etc... Gifts for Christmas. Only to have their hopes dashed, when hoping to do GIN, to get the gift cards ASAP and then they see outrageous amounts being applied to the GIN.
I mean, I have even seen a $1 Amazon gift card start at 1000 and the GIN was 8000 w/no extras.
So, please...tell me what you think.

You are completely right. I am so sick of coming on here and seeing RIDICULOUSLY HIGH GIN's for no reason at all. Not only does the holiday bring out the worst in people, but it also makes them greedy. I think if you have a $ 5.00 gift card the GIN should not be listed any higher then 5555 ( That number because Listia does take a cut ). If it is a $ 10.00 card it should be no more then 11,111. And so on and so fourth. I also noticed as it get's closer to Christmas, there is more and more scamming JERKS on here with the gift cards. I have had to request a refund on gift card auctions I GIN'd twice in 2 weeks. I am currently waiting on a responce or my credits back for one now. ( That is freakin one time a week ) That is RIDICULOUS. These scammer people have the nerve to so 15 auctions that are worthless so they get there sellers badge, ( and get the credits right away ) then these idiots put up these bogus auctions with great GIN's and at first glance you think it is a trusted seller so you GIN it. Then you never recieve anything and them and their page dissapear off of Listia. ( After they have spent up all your credits on GIN'ng gift cards for Amazon for themselves ) Then you are left to wait a week if not more to get your credits back. It is absolutely pathetic and I am sick and tired of it. Listia trully needs to crack down on these theives and liars. I trully think you should not be awarded a trusted seller badge until you have done at least 30 auctions with no neutral on negative. That way their credits sit in pending longer. Thanks for pointing out the inflation problem going on, and letting me complain.........lol. Watching and fanned,.

Yep, there are those as well the "scammers". It takes one envelope and maybe 2 stamps at the most to send Gc. Credits should not be rewarded until buyer receives their auction, IF the seller is new and/or questionable.Thank you for commenting! :)

Thank you, I had one $5 Starbucks card just this past week but was gone witin minutes of listing,lol
I will keep you in mind for the next one soon as I get 2400 more points it takes 6000 point's at Kelloggs Family Rewards to get one and the shipping is crazy fast I think they do one day shipping. (^_^)

I can see 300,000 credits for a $300 giftcard I know we should just avoid those auctions but, honest people are getting ripped off because, well, too trusting or too desperate.
You auctions are great and you set a fair amount for GIN. Believe me, if I had a lot of credits at once.I would of used a fair few of your GIN' s!!

This is a nice auction and I have to say your right people do go a bit crazy what the *GIN amount. My self use the math of 1000 Credits to $1.00 or if I list a $10.00 gift card I may do 12,000 Credits only because I only ship in a large bubble mailer with tracking it runs me about $2.69 each time but am sure it get's to the winner fast and safe. The one time I used stamps on two of my auctions mailed the same day one person said it never came when the other person got the item in two days. My point is my gin never goes over my shipping fee that I pay because as we all know the Post Office do not take Listia Credits if only,lol

Yes, you do set fair amounts for you auctions...unfortunately, too many are not.
