This is an original, 1996 Tickle Me Cookie Monster. And, yes... I have had him since 1996. :) Just put fresh batteries (batteries not included) in him yesterday and he still works perfectly. When you squeeze his tummy, he shakes and says, "Hahaha, hahaha! Oh Boy! Oh Boy!" He would be the perfect addition to any child's room. He does have some slight shelf wear from sitting on my book shelf for the past 16 years, but Absolutely No loose strings, No rips and No missing fur or parts. He even still has the Tyco tag on his toosh. And, yes, the battery compartment is clean and undamaged as well. He does have some sentimental value, but I think he could make some child or collecter very happy.
