The listing, ENGRAVED(DATED 1897) STERLING POCKET MATCH SAFE has ended.

This auction is for an: sterling silver engraved-dated 1897-pocket match safe or vesta care-scrollwork on both sides.
2 1/4"x1 1/4"x 3/8". It is a bit tarnished so I will give it away "as is".
The letters A.G.L are engraved on the back & it is stamped "sterling"
Good luck bidders:) I will pay for tracking but if you want it insured that will be up to you & you pay for insurance.

How Unique!!!! However, I have studied and written in Copperplate Calligraphy and I do believe the initials are A.G. I. and not "L" as the last letter. There would be a tail swirling down and slightly up towards the right. This last letter curls down, back and up towards the left, as an "I" would have been written. I'm just wondering.

Just curious how did you acquire this piece? Did it belong to ur family or was it. Purchased ? Like estate sale or antique store? Just trying to figure out the origin. I do not remember where I picked it up-garage sale I think. It is very light weight.
