The listing, Vintage White Milk Glass Waste Bowl has ended.
What is a waste bowl? I thought it meant something else, but eventually found that back in the turn of the 20th century, while one was serving tea, it was part of the set that was found on the table. The waste bowl, which was used to contain spent leaves, seldom appears in any tea modern tea set.
This is a beautiful white, almost translucent milk glass with beautiful roses all the way around it. It has the number 185 on the bottom. I believe it probably came from England as they used waste bowls in their tea setup.
It measures 5" high, 14" in circumference. It is in very good condition. Little roughness on the edge at the top and only place I see anything wrong would be a small chip on the bottom around the fluting, but on the bottom side. Almost mixes in with the fluting. Sure doesn't take away from the beauty of it.
